Welcome to neoFutures, the web site of
Christopher Burr Jones

neoFutures was conceived as an integral project in Futures Studies and Social Foresight and whose mission was to re-evaluate social institutions and planning, in general, from an innovative perspective. The aim was to achieve better futures for ourselves and for future generations by working outside of comfort zones and to question the dominant paradigm. The business's four-year run is coming to an end and assets will be transferred to a new organization.

Dr. Jones' work as a futurist and educator have been grounded in the Gaia Theory and thus, the "neo" perspective inherently requires looking at marketing, teaching, managing, and behaving in complex organizations in ways that are more congruent with the dynamics of planetary health... To that end, neoFutures will morph into Gaia Futures in the summer of 2008 to help lead us away from a planetary catastrophe and help us to envison and create better cities and communities for the future.

Dr. Christopher B. Jones is a political scientist, futurist, and author. His substantive academic and research work has focused on Gaia theory, women’s futures, green politics, climate change, the Pacific Islands, global consciousness, futures studies, high technology, space development, First Contact, telecommunications, global futures, and transformational leadership and change.

He holds both MA and PhD degrees in political science from the University of Hawai`i and has taught in the state systems of higher education in Hawai`i, Oregon, Colorado, and Texas. He has had extensive research and grant experience in many of the central Pacific Island countries. Jones is currently a Visiting Professor at Mesa State College in western Colorado.

He was Secretary-General of the World Futures Federation between 2001-2005 and is a member of the WFSF Executive Board (2005-2008). Jones published his first novel last year, Fire & Ice, a story of an ecoterrorist plot to start a new ice age to bring an end to Western Civilization, featuring mysterious voodoo Loa, an alien computer virus, and a race against the clock across three continents and the South Pacific.

Jones was born in Northern California, raised in Latin America (Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Argentina, and Paraguay), and has traveled widely… He has been described as a “reluctant Cassandra.” Find out more by reading Fire and Ice!
